A landmark, today as always. It is the highest (1293 meters) among the many Ogliastrini heels. Declared a natural monument in 1993 and distinguished by height and shape, from the entire surrounding region. For this reason it is certainly the most symbolic natural monument of Ogliastra and Tacchi of the whole of Sardinia. Its majesty begins in the Nuragic universe, where made of garrison structures and observation points, people tell of its magnetic force and through popular legends it has become "the entrance to the underground world". From here, the devils came out and danced in the moonlight, around it, ready to trade all the riches of the world, in exchange for the soul of those who went to ask for it. Not only that, this beautiful Tacco has become the place where the adventures of the legendary character Tex Willer took place, a comic book created in 1948 by Galep, the famous cartoonist of Sardinian origin.
Perda 'e Liana, in the upper part is constituted by a majestic cylindrical tower, calcareous-dolomitic (Jurassic, marine sedimentation of 130-150 million years ago), of a diameter of a hundred meters. Its sub-vertical walls, 50 meters high, enclose a sub planar surface of +/-100 meters in diameter. Below there is a structure of collapse and erosion, the characteristic truncate-conical shape, composed of limestone-sandstone sometimes to quartz pebbles (ingress river deltizia), degrading to the compact base of Palaeozoic schist formed in the Permian for levelling the ercinica chain. The name liana could derive from the characteristics of the rock polished or from olione, the strawberry that covered the slopes, or the Ilienses, a Nuragic people who gathered at the base of the limestone peak. Be careful, you will climb quite easily to the middle of the rocky tower, overcoming only a third-degree passage. Climbing to the top is only for climbers or hikers accompanied by expert guides.
